Both Abayomi Azikiwe and Larry Hamm of Newark, New Jersey attended the 50th anniversary March on Washington held on Saturday August 24, 2013 in the nation's capital. Two days later, Azikiwe and Hamm were invited guests over Community Progressive Radio, CPRMetro.org, on the Emanations program hosted by long time broadcaster and producer Bernard White.

Azikiwe and Hamm reported on the actual developments during the rally and march on the Mall in Washington and provided analyses of the 1963 march and compared it to the 50th anniversary event.

The guests saw positive aspects of the August 24 manifestation but recognized the need for more serious critiques of the current political situation in the United States.

Hamm challenged the Black Left to become more active in order to provide a sharper political analysis of the current crisis. Azikiwe noted that many of the African American leaders speaking at the August 24 rally had close ties with the Democratic Party and the corporate media which can hinder the community's capacity to develop an independent line on domestic governmental policy.

The interview is broadcast during the second half of the three hour program. The first half of Emanations deals with the U.S. threats against Syria over the false claims of the usage of chemical weapons inside that Middle Eastern state.

Abayomi Azikiwe hosts the Pan-African Journal, the New York City version, over CPRMetro.org every Monday at Noon and it is repeated two other times during the broadcast day.
